Using NVIDIA 755M on Steam
New Laptop: Lenovo Y510p (came with NVIDIA 755M)
Problem: Games only recognize Intel HD4600 Integrated chip

I have been researching this for the past hour and a half and have yet to find a viable solution to my problem (a little background to let you know I'm not just posting this in here without trying on my own).

What I have tried:
1) Changing global settings through NVIDIA control panel. Result, no change.
2) Changing specific settings for games by using 3D Settings in NVIDIA control panel. Added game, switched to High Performace NVIDIA. Result, no change.
3) Disable Intel HD4600 through device settings. Result, game fails to load. Several error messages.
4) Right click game, run with Graphics Card. Result, no change.
5) Search through compatibility settings of game to turn off Desktop Rendering (supposedly stops the game from compiling with the desktop settings - Intel). Result, option does not exist in Windows 8.1

Does anyone have a viable solution to this problem? The results do not seem to greatly hamper the performance of the games, and I am not sure if it is just showing the Intel chip in error because it is the first one it reads. Also, not sure if the game is the problem. Game: Path of Exile. Haven't been able to try with different game (currently under server maintenance).

Any solutions are greatly appreciated and I thank you for your time, but please do not just tell me to do the same things that are listed above (most of the forums I read consisted of answers that kept regurgitating the same options over and over stating that they will work. I promise I'm not doing it wrong. lol).

Nvidia control panel - graphic setting, find .exe and click Use. it may looks like unchanged, but it will THEN work. It does, you just dont see it. If you mean, you can see "Intel HD graphics" on your panel, its there always.. its watching u
Thanks for the help guys. I was wondering if it just showed the first graphics card that the game ran across. Like I said, the settings in-game didn't seem to indicate that there was a lack of performance on higher settings.
I did look into the BIOS way before I tried all this (thought it was the obvious solution), so I didn't post that I had tried that (though, I guess it would have been better to have).
I appreciate your input.
