Searching discussions - how to ?
Hi,

one thing that concerns me since a long time:
You want to search something on how to do this or that in a game (on the community boards of that game), and think "someone else had for sure the same question, so there might be an anser somewhere already"

But when you search the boards, the displayed result is a pain to find something.
The main problem: Results are ordered is some strange way, most times having a ton of very old threads at the top, where you know those are too old to have the proper answer.

The second problem, it does not search threads, it searches every single post and displays them.
This is especially a pain on forums with, for example, 20 pages of threads. You search a keyword that is often used, and get like 100 pages as result. It's just senseless looking through that, when i would be faster just searching page by page manually.

Third problem, searching for seperated words that written together. Like normally, its a difference if you search for steam community or if you enter "steam community"
But it doesn't seem to do any difference between those two.

_______

So, is there any way i have not found yet where you can do some kind of advanced search ?
Like "sort by" options, or "search only thread titles", or "display result as title instead of single posts" ?

I mean, those are very basic search functions nearly every search engine in the internet can do, so i can't believe Steam does not support them in any way ?

Or maybe some "code" like things you can enter in the search field to do that ?
Like in google where you can enter things like "site:store.steampowered.com ..." to force it searching only special sites, or "-steam" to find things without the word steam

Searching here does need some work.

No filters or sorting of any description.

Terrible.

One small problem with that. Im currently playing a lot Entropy (Early Access, is in Alpha state)... but the Bug reports forum is for game owners only. So google search does not work there
