How to fix Steam window not opening?
After a beta installer updated the steam window would no longer open up. So I thought I would reinstall and uninstalled the Steam client but that deleted most of my games :(

Well reinstall did fix it than but now I am redoing my downloads :( So when the window will not open in normal mode but only big picture mode how do you fix that problem with out starting over?

Can you please clarify: Does your Steam not open or is your Steam stuck in Big Picture mode?

It would not open.. I had the system tray icon and the window showing in taskbar but the window itself would not open. The only way I could get it to open was to right click on the system tray icon and select big picture. Also friends window would not open either.

Start with this:

Steam Support > How to remove and refresh your Steam files [/quote]

Refreshing your Steam files can resolve many issues that can be encountered in the Steam application, store, or games. Performing this operation will ensure that there are no issues that could be resolved with a new installation of Steam, and is a good place to start any troubleshooting process.

Yes it worked for me. Windows 10 sure has it's quirks that are a real pain.

found mine via "multi-display", I only have 1 screen but...
Settings, Display, then down under Multiple Displays, make sure it says Show only on 1.
