Myst, Cyan and Steam
Last winter sales I bought the Myst Masterpiece Edition. Installing was no problem, but when I spend some time in the game and arrived in the clocktower de game would crash when I would pull a lever. I really started enjoying the game and the story, but was halted.
After doing some research I found out the game can only work on XP and Vista. Not even in compatibility modus it will work on my windows 7. So I had to stop playing the game. What surprises me is that Steam is selling this game, though it only works on outdated operating systems. Though we don't speak about a lot of money, I found that there are a lot more buyers with the same problem as me and that makes me feel angry.
Then there is also the thing that there are multipal versions. Which one to chose?! And Cyan recently added a new version that should be able to work on the new operating systems. But I read that even thenew version has a lot of problems. Why didn't they just bring some patches to make the old versions work... I don't want to pay again for a game that still won't work normally and I already own.
I want to play this game very much!
Cyan should stop making new versions and just patch the old ones!
And Steam shouldn't be selling games that won't work!

It says right there on the store page.

System Requirements
OS: Windows XP / Vista

There is no guarantee that it will work on any other operating system. Pay attention to the system requirements next time. Also game works fine for me on windows 7, cleared the whole thing last November.

Although they don't support Windows 7 on Steam Cyan might be willing to update it. Try contacting them on their support site here; http://support.cyan.com/

Something to consider for the future is that Steam's general policy on old games seems to be "we just sell them; making them work is your problem." I always buy old games on gog.com, which will give you a refund if your system meets the requirements listed but the game doesn't work.

With the ´new´ versions they are bringing out I don´t think they will update an old one. AndI haven´t read any good about Cyan´s support team, so I am eager to ask them.
