What is the brand and model of the controller?
speedlink
Iv got a xbox controller aswell but that wont work either.
Getting an XInput-compatible gamepad is generally a good idea. Many games support them, but only them.

Is it wired or wireless?
wired pc remote
and the xbox is wireless but i have the plug and play cable
I have a plug and play cable for wireless Xbox but that does not actually make the controller wired. Mine is basically a charging cable, you would still need a bluetooth receiever, yours might be the same.

Do have the right drivers for the Speedlink controller? I am not sure if this is your model, but look here: http://www.speedlink.com/?p=2&cat=4132&pid=31260&paus=2

I use a ps3 controller because I am used to it, but I also use motionjoy to emulate a 360 controller because that will work with all games, while a ps3 controller does not.

with the xbox 360 controller wired vs wireless, some games will run with wireless and some want wired, in control panel when you select the xbox controller one will show the A button as 00, one one will show the A button as 01
The link you sent worstluck is the same remote iv tried to use but it wont have none of it, and x537t how do you even get the options up to change the remote with xbox and speedlink neither registered but the speedlink recived power the xbox remote just turned on my xbox.
my father used a wired xbox controller with usb port and it worked.
You cannot use an xbox wireless controller without the proper receiver.

You can not use an xbox wireless control with a USB charge cable.

I don't see that many of your games natively support any controller and i don't see what game or games you are trying to use it with...

I got a controller "Xtrust" and that bloody thing wont work >.<
If the game doesnt have controller support youll need a program like xpadder to map the keys for you.
