If I uninstall Steam and then reinstall it, will my saved data still be there once I reinstall it?
So I've been having problems with logging into Steam lately. Despite me having an internet connection, Steam would not connect to the internet. I tried multiple things until I decided to uninstall Steam so I could reinstall it. However, I wasn't thinking about the potential loss of my saved data. So I reinstalled Steam and I'm not sure if my saved data is still there or not. However, there is some more to this. I still had some problems with Steam once I reinstalled so I tried to system restore to a few days ago (not knowing at the time that it doesn't actually restore data) I'm not sure if this will affect it or not but I thought I should put it here. So my plan now is to back up my computer on an external with the hopes that my saved data would be there somewhere and then I'll reinstall Steam and put the saved data back to where it was. Sorry if this is a lot to take in but I'm just worried that I lost my non steam cloud data

I think your game saves will be intact because they are stored in seperate files that are not used to run steam.
If you have serious concern, then simply copy your save data to a secure location while you do the reinstall.

Thank you for letting me know. I'm just about to go out and buy an external so I can back up everything onto that and then reinstall steam.

You wont need an external you can just use a folder on desktop or something

Some saves are located within the :\Steam\userdata folder.

I use gamesavemanager to back up my saves, just in case of a hdd failure.

Yeah, just make sure to back up the userdata and you're other saves should be fine.

I suppose I don't need an external but I needed to get one anyway so this was a good excuse to go get one. So once I uninstall it and then reinstall Steam, all I have to do is install the games and the data should be there then?

Its not a good excuse imo LAWL.

The whole process would go like this:
Move saved data to a folder in a secure location.
Uninstall steam> reinstall steam
Move saved data back to where it was found.

Well that sounds simple lol. I could still use the external because I need to back up my laptop. Thanks for restoring some confidence in me!

Okay so new problem. I reinstalled Steam but it still won't come up. It's a different message saying Steam is having trouble connecting to the internet. I'm not in the process of trying to fix it.

New update: So I've been searching all around the internet for a solution and I find that in addition to deleting the ClientRegister.blob file, I need to delete the appupdatestats.blob. However, I cannot find an appupdatestats.blob in my Steam folder. I found a SteamAppData.vdf and deleted it but still nothing.

If you deleted the files on AppData you dont need to uninstall Steam. Did you try to change the server coutry?
