Compatibility mode for Windows 8.1
I recently updated my laptop from Windows 8 to 8.1. It took longer than i expected, but the main problem was when I logged onto Steam. For some reason, it had noticeably worse resolution than before I updated. I wasn't sure what was happening, so I tried to ignore it and play some Super Hexagon. That's when things stated getting really weird. Every half a second it flashed, so it was almost like a strobe light, and it was completely unplayable. My brother said that maybe my drivers have stuffed themselves, so I reinstalled my Nvidea driver for windows 8.1. It had a few errors, and didn't install. I was planning to talk to my brother later, but I decided to see if Company of Heroes 2 worked. I got a new computer recently, and on my old one, COH2 didn't work, didn't even launch. The first time I launched it form my new computer, it came up with a notification bar, saying:

Company Of Heroes 2 has detected it is running in compatibility mode. This is unsupported and should be addressed before launching the game. Attempting to run in compatibility mode will cause the game to run improperly or likely crash. To solve this, ensure neither Company of Heroes or Steam is running in compatibility mode.

I pressed OK, and it came up with a bugsplat window, the same one that i had when I tried to launch it from my old computer. I tried it again later, it came up with the same notification window, but this time when I pressed OK, it launched. It worked perfectly fine, and when I opened the Steam overlay, the resolution was completely normal, and much better then when I exited COH2.

I'm guessing that Company of Heroes somehow undid whatever windows 8.1 did to steam, but only when it is open. Some help would be appreciated.

A lot of people have had issues with Steam when they went from 8 to 8.1 - see here ---> http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/810939351040227658/

The only fix, apart from resetting your whole laptop, seems to be to disable the framework 3.5, then reinstall it. How do I disable it?
