How to re-install all game essentials like DirectX, Visual C++ after canceling it?

Hi, I have recently installed Windows 8 on this machine and wanted to re-install Total War: Shogun 2. It required to install 14 essential software with it before I could launch it, but I accidentally canceled the installation.

Now Steam starts the game without trying to install all those programs first, as result the game is not starting at all. How to tell Steam to install essentials again since I'm not aware what were all 14 of those pieces of required software to find, download and install them manually.

You could try to verify the game chace but I think that only checks the files are present.

Or go to the games folder steam/steamapps/common/"The game" and there should be a folder in there (somewhere) with all that stuff in....

Stupid Windows opened some directx installation popup when I was clicking Esc and seems it's canceled.

same happened to me. Some thing about windows game I didn't want and just as I was about to cancel it, the DirectX installation popped up and ended up canceling it instead. Does anyone knows a solution?

Reinstall the game.

Got a faster solution. Also for anyone having this issue, Do not reinstall the game. Right click your game in your library and open its properties, under "local filles" click "verify integrity of the game files". It will take a few minutes, but you won't have to download everything again

and locate the redistribution files in games own folder or the new steam redistribution tool app that try to take ower it , see tool app section, if you dont have added it already

Steamworks Common Redistributables
see game menu and then click it to change it to tool then locate this.

try rerun that , to see if it can fix all games as i think it should.

You shouldn't need to run "verify integrity" to complete those installs. Games that require these components usually include them in the game folder.

The game folder should contain subfolders for "DirectX" and "Common Redistributables". You can run the .exe for either from it's folder.
