[Fixed... sort of] How to manually delete overlay webbrowser data
Nowadays the Steam InGame webbrowser remembers which tabs were last open and reopens them whenever the player runs a game, which is a great feature in theory, however recently a friend of mine has sent me a link to a discord video which has utterly and permanently killed my steam overlay.

What I see when I open that particular game nowadays, is three Browser tabs open and the videolink one indefinitely trying to load. The bad part is -> NOTHING <- in the overlay is clickable anymore. I cannot close that tab or the browser or settings, or do litterally 'anything' with the overlay.
The only thing that works is opening and closing the overlay using the keybind for it.

I have tried to use the "delete browser cache" feature in steam settings, tho it appears to do nothing at all, at least it does not fix this issue.

So I have to ask, what files would I have to delete to completely clear any webbrowser data steam has, and where can I find them? Can anybody tell me, please?

I use the overlay a 'lot' and it's very frustrating to have a game I play a lot that just won't allow me to use the overlay anymore.

I think its toolbar preference slide just under the clear web browser data "in game menu"
i do not know if that help with slide off orr on something, and i dont know why you cant use it, i can only hope slide function matter

The bad part is -> NOTHING <- in the overlay is clickable anymore.
whitelist steamwebhelper.exe in AV app also just to be sure.

Barkaya is on to something there per game setting.

Thank you, this might actually work, yet I forgot to mentin that it is overlay data for a non-steam game. That particular option doesn't show up, and the saved data seems to be tied to the actual executable it is linked to. Even moving it to a different drive and making a new shortcut kept it.

Since this has been plagueing me for a while (this wasn't my first post about this) I've gone and attempted some clean sweep solutions.

Deleting the folder under .../steam/userdata/USER-ID appears to remove all data of that kind so that finally worked at least.

Thank you for your inputs :)

"You can delete In-Game Overlay data to fix this from the game's properties window. Right click on the game in your library, select properties, and then click the "Delete" button next to "In-Game Overlay Data". This will clear all open windows in the games overlay, including the browser window responsible. . ."

Yes I've been suggested that before, however that option does not exist for overlay data in non-steam games added to library. Thank you for your desire to help tho! :)
Does anyone know how to fix the steam overlay moving and glitching (i mean that when i start a boardcast for an example the thing that pops up on my screen that shows am i live or no and how many people are watching me is moved and I don't know how to fix it. Before this thing happend this was in the right place, on the top right corner but now (on every game is different) is either in the top middle or in between top right corner and top of my screen) i hope someone knows how to fix this

Do you know how to restore the deleted data?

At a certain point deleted means deleted, and you have to decide when your cursor is over the button if you really want the data deleted, or if you're just doing things on a careless whim.

After all it's a web browser. How do you restore deleted data from your web browser? Generally you don't. And arguably the delete button isn't in danger of accidentally being pressed, you have to go out of your way to do it.
