How do i transfer ownership in group chats?
From my small google investigation, it seems that if i leave a group chat, the 2nd longest member is getting the ownership. I also hear that it may be depending on member's permissions, but this may be true only for actual steam groups and not group chats.

Can someone elaborate how to transfer ownership to a specific group member?

if we are talking about a steam group chats, i believe we also talking about steam groups.
assuming that, it goes like this:
if there are no moderators, officer and you are the sole admin of any sorts and you leave the group. the longest registered member of the group, takes over.

if you want to control that outcome. you will need to promote the said member you have in mind to take over as "officer". when you leave the group, that member takes ownership.

if you have officers and moderators already. i would suggest demoting them all to moderators and promote the one you want to take over as officer. again you will need to leave the group.

But all of that is true for steam group, not group chats. There are no ranks in group chats, nor moderators or officers. I knew all of this already for normal groups too. Also bare in mind that this group chat isnt connected to any steam group.
How can i be 100% sure that the person that gets the ownership in a group chat is the one that i want to have? Since the roles in group chats are arbitrary at most and dont serve a big purpose (unlike on Discord where you can ping actual roles to make better group hirarchy).

I was afraid thats the answer for my question. Well, heres the problem: Its more efficient to make a new group at that point instead of purging everyone till the person i want to be the new owner is actually the owner. Steam doesnt make it easier for us at all and doesnt even tell us who has joined when.

i know, the chat seems like a half-hearted effort to keep up with the standards. nevertheless, it is better than what we had before.
they might eventually get the chat, to a level that is on par with the rest of the competitors. you will just have to have patience, i guess.
