Fraudulant links and scammers everywhere
Hello i have always had scammers add me on steam and message me about stuff but now i almost got scammed the other day. He seemed like a genuine guy wanting to trade his knife for all of my csgo skins. I traded all of my skins into TF2 keys and they usually send you a trade using a Tradeit.gg Bot. As i have used Tradeit.gg before i noticed that the second bot that sent me a trade request had typed "Trade request for legit confirmation, the items will return to your inventory" the bot looked really legit but i declined it as it would steal all of my TF2 keys that was worth all of my skins. Imagine if a younger child gets all of his hard earned skins get stolen by something that looks so legit. And i cased a knife this 4 days ago and since that day i have gotten 10 people adding me and asking what rank i am, and then they ask me if i want to join their team for a tournament. They send you a link and its a fake Razer website that looks legit but you have to login in to your steam before you click anything.
Please be careful of anyone adding you. you can listen to what they have to say and if they want you to log in to a site with your steam. BLOCK THEM

There's many phishing pages that exist because of the tournament scams that have become popular recently.

If you're trying to warn people, posting here doesn't help much because people come here after they lose their accounts or get scammed.

As for the regulars of the forum, we're sick and tired of PSA's about scams that we've known for ages.

There bunch of scam lines scammers uses, I give you a couple.

- I reported you for "insert reason" to scare you, or get your notice. Then try to get you to give items, money, or account login details by asking for it, or trying to get you to login on phishing site. They even try to impersonate someone, to scare you.

- Another one is promising you something too good to be true to fool you into gifting your items, giving money, giving them your account, or logging into phising site.

- A more popular scam as recent is "please vote for my team" then they give you a phishing link, to try trick you into logging.

When scammers take over someone accounts they try to take everything, and message all your friends to repeat the scam.

Here example of a phishing site. Read the description of this screenshot. But rule of thumb, don't login from 3rd party sites ever.

Most common reason people get accounts hijack for any service really are as followed.
- Sharing account infomation with others. <--- Very common with impersonators, pretending to be Steam admin / support.
- Logging in on phishing sites. <--- Very common with skin gambling sites.
- Downloading / Installing Virus / Keylogger on your system.
- Using public devices that has keyloggers, such as cyber cafe, school computers, and etc...
- Storing your login credentials on a unsecured service that others has access to view.
- Using same login credentials for all your things, or using same login credentials on another service that had a data leak. Yes it does matter because even if it not related to Steam, if using same login credentials, hijackers will try to use those credentials to see what services you use with those credentials. https://haveibeenpwned.com/

No. Users should already be aware that using any 3rd party site not affiliated with Valve at all is "use at your own risk."

You have 2 sites linked to phishing and scamming and you wonder why you invite scammers to your profile!?:lunar2019laughingpig:

You've made your bed now you have to lie in it. The overwhelming majority of Steam users will never be targeted by scammers or any type of malicious activity.

Did you pay attention to any of the thousands of PSA's that exist before posting yours? No? See, they do literally nothing.

Just because scams continue to happen doesn't mean nobody sees the threads or is helped by them.

Yes, and no.

Yes may help those that acually care to read this discussion, which they're going to encounter post, and may even look up relating topics on this matter.

No part is that some don't care about these topics, and even ignore them as well, which when it happens to them, they come running to the forum asking for how to recover their account, or whining about how they lost their times, and nearly every day, someone going to post about it, if you look up key words. "Stolen account" "Stolen items" "Reported for item dupe" "Reported for fraud" "Rate my team" "I give you this for that on this site" and etc...

Point is, PSA don't work as intended as daily someone getting hijacked, or tricked out of their items, or money.
