Last win10 update wrecked all shortcuts?
All desktop shortcuts generated by Steam, Ubisoft and Bethesda.net just turned into "[game/software].url" after the last win10 update and don't work. Which means 22 shortcuts don't work now....
Some, not all, of my custom made Steam shortcuts survived. GOG Galaxy shortcuts seem to be untouched, as well as programs without some live service client (except for Minecraft Java which is also untouched despite the Xbox Live nonsense).

Since Google is useless these days, I wondered if anyone else had this happen?

You have to associate the url with Internet Explorer.

1) In Windows 10, search for "Default Apps" on the start menu (just type it in and them click on the link)

2) Scroll down the settings panel and click on "Choose default applications by file type"

3) Find the .url extension and change the default app to "Internet Browser".

wow. Thank you!

I've used Windows since about 1998 and I've never seen this problem before. I have no idea how you figured that solution out.
