Is Flawless Widescreen a Reputable Program?

Foliage pop-in is horrible in Alan Wake 2 and I heard that a program called Flawless Widescreen allows you to tweak the LOD and largely solves the issue. I've never heard of this program before and I am a little paranoid about installing it. Do any of you have experience with it? Do you trust it?
