Too high deadzone with PS4-controller on PC
Hello,

I've spent days online trying to find a solution and no matter what I try, the "error" remains.

I have a brand new PS4 controller, which does not show a particularly high deadzone with the gamepad tester (only visible error: left stick cannot be pressed optimally to the top left)

However, when I start a game, e.g. Fortnite, precise aiming with the right stick is almost impossible, as my input is only recognized very late, as if there was an enormous deadzone. Fine movements are not possible at all.

I've tried so far:

- Lowering the deadzone ingame down as far as possible
-Lowering the deadzone in DS4 Windows down as far as possible
-Lowering the deadzone in the controller configuration menu of Steam as far as possible.

The error persists.

Can anyone help me with this?

So far I have only used an Xbox controller and a PS3 controller on the PC. No such problem has occurred with either of them.

Hi there, same problem with a brand new PS5 controller with kontrolfreeks.
Just like you i played with a DS3 controller, but now that i have a PS5 controller, it seems like the joysticks are more stiff, and the tracking can be complicated, unless i aim.
If i find a fix, i'll keep you updated.

Hey i found a fix ! You need to use DS4Windows, create a new profile, if it asks you to select a preset say yes, and then chose DS4 controller, not XBOX 360. If you need to do some adjustements on the profile do it, and then the only thing you gotta do is to click on "Other" and THEN select Xbox 360, it fixed it for me and now it works like a charm !
(Optional) what i also did was to use HidHide tool, there's a tutorial on Youtube by Ali N'cir, i did it to hide the double input because it seems wrong for me and i thought that it could cause lag.

Have you found a fix? I have this issue and it’s so annoying it makes playing on controller not fun

Ask playstation support, they are in contoll over windows driver and its app to recalibrated it to the pc, do check window ckontroll panel, in the old days we did recalibrate Flightstick Pro there then software was made for it.

Window sand steam willl not fix the issue if this is own Brand controller issue, and windows do not male drivert and software to other Brand product.

do check steam controller setup, if you need to make own controller generic setup.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
