Steam Guard sending alphanumeric codes for number only input

Tried to use Steam Guard on my phone. The first code they sent me was all letters.

The form input for the passcode only accepts numbers.

Please fix the form input to accept alphanumeric codes if that is what you are sending.

If said form does not accept Steam Guard codes (which are, yes, 5 alphanumerics) then chances would seem good that it's not a Steam Guard code-input form. I.e., what?

It is the form in the Steam Android app when I go to menu > Steam Guard and click on Add Authenticator. I have a screenshot of the input screen that only gives the number keyboard as if it was a phone number input. Copy/pasting the code from the email just gets deleted because the input will only accept numbers.

Thank you. It is a weird issue.

It reminds me of when coding in html5 and defining an input to only take numbers, and the "smart" form automatically gives you the number keyboard.

This, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9cr_1DIdjM shows a fully numeric SMS (!) code being received when adding, as does another of these videos. Are you perhaps looking at the wrong code, i.e., not at SMS?

It sent all of the codes to my email every time I tried to activate Steam Guard. It never sent me a text and I'm not sure if I have it set up to.

You can change your Steam Guard from email to phone and vice versa in Steam -> Settings -> Security -> Manage Steam Guard.

You can not use auth app without phone number.
Setting up app sends an sms with a code.

When I had this issue I had to find my old password written down somewhere to log into the desktop app. Since then I have added my phone# though I didn't want to and Steam Guard seems to be working now for the QR codes.

can someone help me? i have tried soomany time for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steam guard and the problem is the code is always sending the alphabet code and i can't type an aplhabet. please someone if there a solution pls tell me how, i will soo greatfull
