If I use a mobile phone to Scan the QR code will it install the Steam Guard Auth. App on my phone?
I want to understand what will happen if I get a new mobile phone with no Steam Apps on it yet.

What will happen when I use the QR code scanner on the new mobile phone to scan the STEAM generated QR on my PC?

Will the STEAM Guard app and utilities be installed on the new mobile phone after I scan the QR code with it?

You need to download the app to scan the code.

Actually, you don't need the app as it is a valid QR code that leads to a Steam URL.
Not sure if you can install the app that way, but wouldn't rule that out.

There's a link to the steam mobile app underneath the QR code. They may be doubling down on idiot proofing it, but my bet is on the QR code not doing much unless it's scanned with the steam mobile app.

Be sure to move the app in the correct manner, especially if you use the market, to minimize the security lockdowns on your account.

Once the STEAM App is installed which of the Account settings in Manage STEAM Guard Account Security do I chose so I have control on my Mobile phone to Sign Out of the mobile phone's connection to the STEAM account?

I am not suggesting I using my PC Sign Out function. I am wondering if the Mobile Phone STEAM will let me Sign Out on just the M Phone and continue on the PC to play, etc.,etc..

If I sign out on my PC will that Sign out of the Mobile Phone STEAM app too? Will I have to sign in using the QR symbol each time I sign back in or will that only be necessary if I switch to a, e.g., Laptop?

I figured it out. The mobile phone version of Steam is not directly connected to the PC. Closing the mobile connection closes the connection and we have to use the QR code to get it lit up on our mobile phone and Sign On again.

If you desire to have the STEAM Guard Auth. on your phone for when you travel so you can use it to sign on at on a different computer; then it's a good idea.

Are you sure it works like that?

I just scanned a QR code with a QR scanner instead of the app; "open link" dropped me into the app. So, I quit the app from the app preferences, scanned the QR code, copied it (instead of letting the scanner app open it, which probably consults various hooks and one of them makes it go to the app instead of the browser), and pasted it into Google Chrome -- but that just redirected me to a "Welcome to Steam"-type page.

"s.team" does lead to an Akamai address that responds to echo requests, but just hitting the link doesn't seem to do anything useful. I wanted to try transferring it to my PC first, but that takes a bit of time and it seems the code keeps changing. Still, since pasting it into chrome did send me to a Steam webpage instead of the app, I guess it's not intercepted by the app.

I had an issue where this wouldn't work on my OnePlus, as it would just open the Steam app on my phone from the Camera and do nothing.
