Non-Steam games not launching

Despite this account's age, I'm still pretty new to this whole Steam thing, and I wanna start adding all the games I have on my PC to here, but after adding all of them, they all refuse to launch, only making it seem like it's launching for a split second before simply stopping. If y'all know a solution for this, I'd appreciate simpler methods for fixing that actually explain what everything means, since computer lingo ain't my thing

Adding non steam games requires the platform the game is on to be loaded. Forexample if you purchased a game on Uplay adding it to Steam can only load the game if Steam loads Uplay first. Same goes for EA and any other.

My question is how are you adding them?
At the top of the Steam window under Games there are different ways we can add games we don't have through Steam.

1. If they're available on Steam an option we have is if we have a game key for that game we can add the game key and have the version we've had and the Steam version if they're different and launch the game through Steam, with the Steam version = no issues launching.

2. We can select "Add Non-Steam Game to My Library..." regardless of whether we have a key or not or whether that game is available on Steam or not. That option allows us to use the Steam window to Launch any game or program. Example: if we would want a link to launch Microsoft Edge or MS Word from the steam window that option is how we can do that.

How did you try adding them?
Option 2 they should just work. If that's how you did it and they're not launching something's blocking it which could be your anti-virus program or sometimes windows security features ends up doing that.

The games I'm looking to add rn are Assassin's Creed I and II, both from Uplay. I do have Uplay installed on my computer, assuming that's what you mean for that last question. But I don't actually know what you mean by Steam loading Uplay

If the game uses a different client, Origin, Uplay, battle.net ect, make sure you've launched the client before you try to launch the game through Steam.

Because of the way Epic handles their games you can't add individual Epic store games to Steam, the only work around is adding the entire Epic Games Store .exe as a non-Steam game.

He means you actually have to launch the Uplay client first, before you try to launch AC through Steam.

I mean that if you own the game on Uplay when you add the game as a non steam game Steam needs to load the game but that also requires Uplay to be ran. Should be done automatically if Uplay is not already opened. Provided Uplay is installed and updated the game should work fine. Sometimes it doesn't though and you'll need to open Uplay or whatever platform the game is on before running it via Steam

Are you using Uplay (the old client) as the client has a newer version known as Uplay Connect and the old client no longer works.

Hello Everyone I have the Same issue but when I go to add a Non Steam Game to my Library it comes up with the Location where the GAMES & APPS is, & Then I ADD The GAME.EXE I Want to PLAY on Steam & Then I Try to Loach the Game, but it doesn't Loach, so Than I try to ADD The Non Steam GAME.EXE Location Manually by Clicking ON The gear icon & Then Properties Tab to Make a Shortcut on Steam then I Try To ADD it, But it Won't ADD The Location INFO or the GAME.EXE & not even the ICON of The Game I'm Trying ADD to Steam Client & so I Can't Loach The GAME.EXE On Steam Client like i us to, so what Can I Do to Fix This issue & Can anyone Tell Me waits Going ON With The Steam Client or Do I need to Make a BUG Report to The Steam Client Community.
