Enable Force Feedback for Xbox One Controllers (Windows 7/8/8.1 x64 ONLY)
***UPDATE 4/17/2016***

Going forward "Updates" will no longer be posted here at the top. To view updates (including TODAY's) and compatible controllers follow the OneDrive link and view the changelog.
______________________________________________________________________

For those interested in having force feedback, vibration, rumble or whatever one decides to call it, I have modified the existing Japanese force feedback driver for the 360 controller (and other xinput devices) by Masahiko Morii. If you are seeking support for official wired and wireless Xbox 360 controllers go here:

Force Feedback Driver for Xbox 360

1. Download the file.

Updated Force Feedback Driver for Xinput Controller[onedrive.live.com]

2. Run and click Next. (If prompted beforehand, click more info or I understand and run anyway)

3. If previous version is installed, click Remove.

4. Run again and click Complete, then choose install. (if prompted again, choose yes to complete installation)

NOTE: THIS IS SAFE...

This does not overwrite the official Xbox One Controller driver. It simply redirects the force feedback call from DInput to XInput. I have tested this on two of my home computers and it worked on all Directinput reliant games.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

1. DOUBLE CHECK that "Force Feedback Driver for Xinput" is removed in Add or Remove Programs, restart PC, then try again.

2. If you intend to use 360 controllers alongside an Xbox One controller you may have to have said 360 controller(s) turned on during installation.

3. x360ce may conflict with the force feedback of controllers (remove from game directory if this is the case) and try again.

4. From my understanding of this driver, Xbox 360 racing wheels DO NOT WORK. That is to say they will not vibrate or rumble.

Hi, I'm a bit of a noob to all this. But I've been trying to troubleshoot a problem I'm having. I bought an xbox one wireless controller other week, the updated version with a rechargeable battery and have been using it wired without an issue, with vibration working and everything>

But I got my wireless dongle through today, plugged it in and it installed the driver through windows update and it all worked perfectly apart from the vibration features. It's strange but this is the only thing not working with the official driver and dongle and xbox one pad.

Am I right in thinking this file of yours will fix this issue?

I'm on Windows 10 Pro x64.

I have heard from a different steam forum that the new insider build fixes the issue but haven't got a clue how to get that.

Many thanks.

Awesome work with this! Would it be possible to also get the Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710 added? This controller also has a Dinput mode, but the Xinput mode requires no config in most games.

As a matter of fact that is ALREADY part of the current driver link above. So you can go ahead and uninstall, then reinstall using the link at the top.

**HOWEVER**

I haven't picked one up yet, but I haven't made an update note at the top because I've been told that the adapter's driver currently doesn't support force feedback. Now, I don't know myself, but the rumble "probably" will not work because without XInput force feedback there is nothing the the DInput call to piggy back off of. Again, download the the link at the top because when Microsoft releases an update with force feedback, the driver I've modded will immediately kick in. But by all means try. Why not?

Unlikely. The reason being is that the official driver for the wireless adapter has no native force feedback for vibration. Because of this there is nothing for my driver to piggy back off of. Go ahead and download the link at the top anyway (it's been updated for the adapter), but for now (unless it does work?) we'll have to wait until Microsoft updates the existing driver. When they DO my driver should kick right in then.

Okay, thank you very much. I gave it a try and it did not work but as you said it's down to Microsofts driver so I will wait.

I updated the driver to support your pad! Grab it from the link at the top of the page! Of course follow typical procedure in uninstalling then reinstalling and install by choosing complete install and confirm for me that it's working. Good luck!

I never even thought about a difference when using an updated controller and non updated controller. So, I went ahead and updated mine from REV_0101 to REV_0102 on the XBOX One. After which I booted up ETS2 on Steam. Once I was in the game I had full vibration. I have both both versions of the controllers (3.5mm and NO 3.5mm) and both work. What I suggest is the following.

1. Grab the download from the top of the page.
2. Run the installation and choose REMOVE
3. Double check that "Force Feedback Driver for Xinput" is removed from Apps and Features
4. Restart the computer
5. Run the installation again and choose COMPLETE

Playing pc games "wireless" with an xbox one controller requires an xbox one controller, a wireless adapter for xbox one, a Windows 10 operating system and a pc.

Apparently nobody managed to hack the driver so it works for other operating systems. Let alone making the controller work without a microsoft adapter.
