unable to use debit card for steam wallet

i am from india and i am using my debit card(master card)for my steam wallet purchases while purchasing i selected master card in the payment method and filled all other required fields correctly and when i click purchase button it says:"Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company.

Note that in some cases, your credit card company may put a 'hold' on funds in your account, but you will not be charged. After correcting any errors in the information displayed below, please try your purchase again."
i don't know why it says credit card while i am using debit card and i have entered all my details correctly

problem solved : i bought a steam card from a website (gamersgift.com) and it gave a redeem code and i got money in my steam wallet

Thanks for that solution, Lagger. I hated that I couldn't buy games on steam and didn't want to go get a credit card just for this. Besides, not many people understand about the extra authentication for debit cards in India, which is the reason we are not able to use debit cards on sites like this. It's sad that most big companies don't care to create transactions that are friendly to Indian customer-base, despite the huge number of gamers from the sub-continent.
