Pishing Method

Hey all,
I opened this discussion because I just got my 3rd pishing bot request.
A bot adds you as friend, then it sends you a link that looks like a real link but it's actually a link to a googledrive site. If you click it a .scr file will download. For these ppl don't know: .scr is sth like a .exe and this because very dangerous as it can be a malware. A moderator already warned because of this but I just want to know if it has any effect if I report these bots.
Also I want to collect the names/ids of the bots here just to know how many bots there actually are.
Sry for bad english and hope u won't fall for these bots!

Reporting them will get them banned. The number of existing bots is unknown but since Valve have implemented new rules for limited accounts and link-masking; the problem on Steam has been dramatically reduced to being non-existent. People are still being compromised through 3rd party sites as they offer no protection but that's not Valve's problem.

If you are a member of any Steam Groups that are trade-oriented or are on 3rd party sites; the risk of bot requests is significantly higher. I can't see if you're a member of any groups as you have a private profile but these are usually the aggrivating factor for such a thing.

will it make any difference if i leave the group now, so will the requests reduce or even stop?

I'd leave that high-risk group right now - it's probably the souce of these recent random requests. Bots usually farm in droves based on the existing membership base so if you leave now; your profile URL wont appear on their latest database.
