So i did another password reset, same results, did another password reset, same results, figured well maybe the system takes a while. So i did another reset to be absolutely 1000% sure it was right, wrote it down, memorized, and waited FOUR HOURS, still won't accept the login.
But i can login to my steam account from his computer, so its not a problem with the steam client or anything like that. It just refuses to accept his login.
So before i am forced to create a new account and spend hundreds of dollars on games, how the heck do i fix this? Anyone know a phone number to call for support?? I opened a support ticket but no reply, totally damn useless support system.
I will have another look though for more posts, thanks for the heads up!
Nothing like trying to play games with the family for the weekend and not all the accounts work... UGH
Opened a support case this morning about 8am, now 15 hours later still no response or resolution, thats pretty harsh considering that he can't even play his games offline mode.
I checked his email, the last password reset he still got the email saying the password was successfully changed and he should login to steam, click the link in the email or open the client itself, the login still doesnt work.
This is going to be one happy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weekend now... Thanks Steam...
Is it saying incorrect password or not able to connect? If the latter, try disabling any security/privacy/optimization software that may be interfering with Steam when you try to connect.
Also, the last post i put up about this in discussions was deleted, whats up with that crap?? So now they are censoring the community to when someone has a problem??
I guess not... It used to be that i could send them a email or open a support ticket and get a reply in 24 hours or less, i guess their support has gone to crap. I have been a steam member for 11 years now, and in those 11 years i have never had a problem until now.
Steam Support you suck!! You try telling your son that his summer is ruined because his steam account suddenly stops working one day.
But i click the button it opens a web page and asks for the steam user id, i enter the id and click forgot password or whatever it says i don't remember now, it takes me to a page that says send a code to the email address associated with the account, clicked that, a few seconds later in his email account there is the email with the code, enter the code on that page and it takes me to the next page with two boxes to enter the new password twice, then a few seconds later his email chimes again says the password for the account was sucessfully changed, click the link to login to steam, which just pops up the steam client on the computer, but i already had that open anyway, put in his user id and the new password and.... drumroll...
LOGIN TO STEAM FAILED
I reset the password about a dozen times now, we get the code email, we get the password has been changed email, but the account still cannot be logged into. So i know its not a problem on our end at this point.
And no its not a ban as some suggested, i checked his email, nothing, no notices, and hes not an admin account on his computer so he can't install anything without my authorization.
Not to mention hes a kid that doesn't even know about cheats and hacks and generally only plays a few games with some of his friends.
So if i am able to use that buttons on the login to reset it then i don't get why i cant login if all that goes through?
You can use the following Account Recovery Code to reset your Steam login credentials:
Your Account Recovery Code is:
So then we put the code in, reset the password and a few seconds later we get this.. ( I X'ed out the personal details)

But he still cannot login with the new password.
Would you be willing to post a link to his profile just so we can see if anything looks abnormak?
There you go, i don't see any indication on there of any issue. It says he was last online 3 days ago, but thats not possible, that would be Saturday the 1st, his account hasn't worked since the night of the 27th of July, i know that for a fact because we were playing TF2, which you can see is his favorite, 356 hours! LOL
It says he last played Friday the 31st, again not possible, as he wasn't even home or able to login.
So my thought is that his account got hacked, but if it was hacked wouldn't i not be able to reset the password? I would assume if it was hacked the first thing they would do is change the email address so as to prevent the user from re-establishing connection to it??
I thought of that to, but i was the one that did the password reset every single time, and i NEVER clicked on that link to lock his account, plus if you click on that link from what i found in the forums you get a confirmation email that the account was locked as well.
His email is an Imap server, and i monitored his email for the last week since i first did a reset on his password, and i haven't seen any report of it being locked.
