i just clicked a hack/virus link
GUYS i need help
ill tell you the story..

so it begins when a guy added me. i accept his freidn req and he send me a message that contains a link. the message sounds like this ( hi im selling csgo skins see my trade offer then *the link*. i know it was a hack/virus link. but im curious. so i clicked that link. then it brings me to a blank web and it suddenly downloads a file. i panicked an cancel the download right away.
then i open my downloads file and see it. it should be a image that means it should contain .JPG . GIF or whatever. but it dont. so i delete the link right away.

im so freaked out right now i have many tf items and some games. i got several unusuals and i dont want to lose them. what should i do ? am i safe ?

Trade them to a seperate account or to one of your friends who you trust, then later you can trade them back
Download and update Malware Bytes. Restart your PC in safe mode. Do a full scan of your PC with rootkit detection enabled. Then do a full scan of your PC with your antivirus of choice.

Assuming nothing is found, you should be safe. Please do not click phishing links in future, as they say, curiousity killed the cat.

i never scanned my laptop :v
Unless your laptop is what you clicked the link on, that should not be a problem.

i used google on my laptop not in-game steam browser. and................ i already cancel the download and delete the downloaded undone file. so am i actually safe
Do the scan to be sure. On paper, cancelling the download should be enough, but this is not a situation you want to take chances with.

For antivirus, there is no simple answer. It depends on your needs and what you are comfortable with. Here's an article listing their 10 best antivirus for 2015:
