Can I play the restricted region game when I move to another country?
Hi,

Refer to new steam account option which allow you to choose your current store
New Feature

I have a question whether I can play the game in case I buy a restricted region game then move to another country.
For example, I live in Thailand and buy 'Sleeping Dogs' which is restricted and only playable in Thailand and some countries in Asia (there is a message in Thai steam store). In future, I move to US which is outside the playable region. What will happen with my game?

1. I must change current store (via the new feature mentioned above)
2. I must contact Steam support
3. The game won't be able to play until I move back to Asia :(
4. Steam will replace my game with another appID (maybe replace with ROW package). In this case, Are the playtime and achievement still exist? (Or I will lost my whole stat)

Last question, if I just visit US (for 1 week vacation not pamanent settle), what will happen with my game?

Thanks,

PS: This is only my curiosity and I don't have a plan to move to another country.

The store option only controls purchasing. If you go to the USA and you are PHYSICALLY located there you can either:

1) Continue to use the Thailand store by using your old payment method
2) Change to the USA store by adding a USA payment method and making a purchase in the USA

You can do this all via your account settings without the need to contact support. As long as you're physically located in the new region, Steam will detect this and allow you to add the USA payment method.

Game region locks are entirely separate. Chaning your store region does not magically unlock the game region lock.

If the game is only playable in a specific region, then when you move it will no longer work.

If a game is region PLAY locked to Thailand, if you visit the US for a week, it wont work for that week, but will work again when you go back.
