NEED HELP ABOUT 5$ RESTRICTION.
NEW ACCOUNT.. so yeah, today is my new day here on Steam. Actually no, I've been on steam since a few years back, but I lost my old account, so I've made a new one today..but that's not the problem here, and the problem here is I can't add friends.
Yes I know there's new 5$ restriction now , but I've been searching on google, they said "just buy a cheap game, it'll remove the limit of your account".. , I mean.. it's clear that steam says I have to buy something worth 5 bucks, but those comment on google did say "just buy a cheap game!" and what they mean is games under 5 bucks.. so which 1 is right? can I just buy any game to remove the limit or should I spend my 5$?

and if there's any other way to remove the limit without spending my 5$, I would like to hear it.

Thankyou

and I'm sorry if I put this in a wrong section, or there's already a discussion about this, I can't find it tho..

*SOLVED

Those comments are from before the $5 dollar rule was implemented.
Buying something for the equivalent of $5 USD or charging your wallet for the same amount is the only way to get your account unlimited.

can you tell me about charging my wallet? I mean, is it like if I have 1$ in my account, then I add 6$ to my account it'll remove the limit? like that or? should I use the money to buy a game or something?
Cathulhu Jul 27, 2015 @ 12:49pm
Yes, exactly like that. You don't need to buy a game with the money. Charging alone is enough. What you do with the money afterwards is up to you.

The $5 rule has been implemented only recently and you have to do as Steam says, make a $5 purchase, it doesn't have to be a game you can purchase $5 worth of Steam Wallet and it will work.

You will need to spend at least $5.00 USD within the Steam store.
Some examples of purchases that grant access to these features are:
Adding the equivalent of $5 USD or more to your Steam Wallet
Purchasing game(s) that are equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store
Adding a Steam Wallet card that is equal to $5 USD or more to your Steam account
Purchasing a Steam gift that is equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store (Receiving a Steam gift from a friend doesn't count)
Each Steam purchase total will be tracked in USD. If your Steam store's currency isn't in USD, it will be tracked and converted to USD automatically using daily exchange rates.

You cannot buy $1 worth of Steam Wallet, the minimum you can buy is $5.

As Cathulhu pointed out, it's 5 United States Dollars, not 5 of your local currency. Your profile suggests you are in Indonesia. The currency exchange rate, courtesy of Google, is:

67387.50 Indonesian Rupiah = $5 USD

They will automatically do the currency exchange.
