How do I block somone?
1st of all, why in the hell is this so difficult to do? It's a basic function of like EVERY site on the internet. Pretty arcahic desgin imo.

I want to block someone who isn't on my firends list. How do I do this.

go to their profile > hit the [More] button under their level(close to) > then block all communication

No. But no "every site on the internet" offers that either.

Dont be pedantic ReBoot. You know what I mean. It's 2015, I shouldn't have to make a thread and google how to block a user. Additionally, I shouldn't have to match up with players who I've blocked. Makes no sense how you can block someone and still get matched up with them.,

Steam should invest some of their millions of dollars back into the site and improve it. It's beyond arcahic design.

Not really. Putting options into the "more" menu is still a common design pattern.

I should be able to block a user from in game, and that block should prevent any further communication whatsoever, inlcuding, but not limited to, playing against said player in any game.

blocking someone in-game would have to be dealt with from within game i think, so the game would have to have some sort of built in system specifically for that (at least most of the time). steam can't just block someone from playing with you on, say, tabletop simulator for example.

This is restricted to how people implement their games into Steam.

You will find that Valve do this on some games. Block someone in L4D2 for example and you won't join their games and they can't join yours. If the game is made so it knows which server you are playing in and reports this to Steam then it's doable.

If the game doesn't report back to Steam this information, then all Steam knows is that you are "in-game". It doesn't know if you are in multiplayer, or which server you are in! Likewise it doesn't know the same about the person you blocked so it can't do anything about it. Additionally, this would only work with the "join this game" link from Steam if Steam didn't tell the game server who your blocked users are so they know to stop you connecting.
