Desktop shortcut not working?
I recently purchased 'Thomas was alone' and after it installed on my laptop, the icon for it was for an internet shortcut (Planet Earth). When I try to use it, it gives me a message saying that the internet shortcut isn't working. Even after deleting it and manually creating a new one, it giv es the same message. Any help?

Just to clarify; you did right click on "Thomas Was Alone" in the Steam Client and select "Create Desktop Shortcut", correct?

I'm just trying to duplicate the bug.

Yes, I did. I tested it again, still just a broken internet shortcut.
Says 'The target "" of this internet shortcut is not valid.'

Have you tried creating a shortcut of the executable (.exe file) in the "thomaswasalone" folder and moving it onto the desktop?

Let me know if you need a more in-depth explanation of this.

Tried it already. Says it needs the folder there with it as well. This may sound vain, but I don't particually want the folder on my desktop.

Sorry if I'm patronizing you, but this is gonna piss me off if I don't help you solve this.
If doing these exact steps didn't help, you're better off going with a toaster in replacement with Steam.
1. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B09D29n_MFfOY3o4aURmMWJUcXc/view?usp=sharing
Right click that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ file. Click "Create Shortcut".
2. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B09D29n_MFfOMmlKRXl0YlBWQzQ
A new file will pop up named "Thomaswasalone - Shortcut".
3. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B09D29n_MFfOdmg2QVZXa0kyLTA
Drag that mofo onto the desktop.
4. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B09D29n_MFfOVTJSaW1nRUhUTHM
Behold your new shortcut.

Just trust me on this. Please. I need this.

Well damn. I don't know.

the last suggestion I can give you is to stay positive and blame Valve. :happyBUD:

If you've got a the globe icon, something screwed up the file association. For Windows 10, open up the "Choose a default app for each type of file" settings page from the Start menu. Scroll down to the listing for ",URL" and set it to Internet Browser. Do not set it to a specific browser (E.G. Chrome or Edge), there is a option called Internet Browser.

Not to revive an old thread, but I'm having the same issue with Spelunky 2 right now

Edit: Just tried to make a shortcut of the exe and move it to the desktop, that worked for me
