When you plug in your xbox controller in to your computer. After the driver are automaticly installed. You can use your controller for the big picture modus.

If your are not in big picture mode while logged in on steam. Then you can press on the big X guide button on your xbox controller to get in to big picture modus.

Adapter? You have a wireless xbox controller?

1. Connect the wireless gaming receiver to a powered USB port on your PC (so probably one on the rear). A green light should come on the receiver.

2. Windows will find the dongle and attempt to auto-install the drivers. If this fails, the software can be downloaded from Microsoft’s site[www.microsoft.com]. The software support Windows XP, Vista and 7.

3. The controller will now need to be synced to the receiver. Turn the controller on by holding the Guide button until lights start flashing on it.

4. Hold down the sync button on the wireless gaming receiver for a few seconds

5. Hold down the sync button on the Xbox 360 controller for a few seconds, which should cause the LEDs around the Guide button to circle and eventually stop in the top left quadrant, indicating it’s setup as player one. You can add more controllers using the same method.

hope this help.

That won't work. Either get a wired gamepad or the wireless receiver.

I agree with ReBoot. The cable you use on your xbox controller, doesnt sent data. It only charges your controller battery. You need a Wireless Gaming PC USB Receiver for you controller or you need a buy a normal xbox controller with cable usb.

The Play&Charge kit is only for charging the controller, it does not establish a data connection between the controller and the PC, only a connection between the battery and the PC.

Get a 3rd party version that's cheaper or dont get 1 at all. You can get a really cheap wired gamepad or spend a bit more and get the wireless ones working.
