Half Life 2 suite update paused forever
I think this is a steam issue rather than a game issue hence the post here.
Half Life 2, lost coast, ep 1 and ep2 are stuck in an "update paused" state, resume does nothing. Promoting a game to the top of the download queue does nothing, all four say "update required" and will not start upon hitting "play" giving an error message instead about a disk read error.

Tried
Restarting Steam
Restarting computer
Verified game files
deleted entire Steam directory except Steam.exe and steamapps folder and restarted.

I have yet to delete local content and redownload the entire program because I am one lambda cache away from my final acheivment. Is there any way I can restart the update that I have not yet tried?

Update, I deleted HL2: Lost coast and did a new download. It stopped before completing and entered the same state as before claiming a disk error.

Update 2: I can start up and play HL2 if I go to the HL2.exe file and double click it. But it still does not work through the Steam interface.

Same thing here, and no solution yet... did you happen to just upgrade to windows 10? I'm wondering if this is an OS issue

Full hard disk?

Not a full HDD. I have two 500 GB drives dedicated to Steam and there is at least 123 GB free on the fuller drive.

I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 on a new 120 GB SSD in preparation for the Windows 10 upgrade with a new Steam installation and the problem persists.

I would double check to see which game its choking on, and making sure its not in an old partition.

Solved.
When I upgraded to Windows 10, All four games updated.
Not sure why it happened in the first place though.
