How do i check if my steam key is working?

I have a steam key for portal 2. How do i check if it`s working or not without redeeming it?

I tryed to sell it on g2a , 2 hours later the customer asked for a refund saying the key is not working / it`s used .How do i know he didn`t use it?

Don't give him a refund chances are he used it and is trying to take the game and the items.

The buyer has the key now, so yes. You will have to respond to the dispute/chargeback through PayPal, though you have no way of proving the key was valid so PayPal will likely side with the buyer.

You can check it if he used it, just redeem it, if the duplicated key message appears he is lying and if you wanna check before selling it is possible if you already have the game.

The problem is, if the seller does not have Portal 2 and tries to redeem it to see if it's been used and it has not been used, now it's tied to their account.

You're not really allowed to sell the keys. There is nothing anyone here can do for you. I doubt Steam support will refund this.

Key has been used, learn from your mistakes.
