New features for Big Picture (YOUTUBE AND NETFLIX APP)
Hey guys! I was wondering how to ge BIG PICTURE MODE more comfortable for those who play from the couch (me, for example) and only use the controller to navigate. What you guys think about valve bring some "apps" for this mode? For example, on the PS4 has the youtube and netflix app and is very practical and easy to use. For me this will be better than use the browse on steam ( browse is not that comfortable to use ). What do you guys think? I hope for at least the youtube and netflix app.

Hey, where can I find this "apps" for my PC desktop?
Search your computer for netflix. It should be in program files.
I use windows 7 ultimate and I can't find it :/
Use windows search. Good luck.

You can always use YT or Netflix in the browser. The Steam browser.
As for proper media services support, you might want to post about that in the Steam music forum.
Deskflix would work. Netflix desktop app.

Netflix isn't an 'app' or 'application' on Windows 7 (only 8.x) so windows search will turn up nothing if the OP is not using IE as their browser.

In order to add it to Steam, the file needs to be executable... this means you can't add a URL shortcut to Netflix as a non-Steam game. Annoying.

It seems to me that the best workaround for this would be browser specific.

For example, if you're using Chrome then figure out where the chrome.exe is located. On my system it's at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

...but this location will vary if Chrome was installed at user-level instead of globally.

So anyway, I right click the desktop, create a new shortcut and for the location I put this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" http://netflix.com

Note the quotes and the internet address I put at the end.

Once that icon is created, it should turn up in the list if you try to add it as a non-Steam game.

This is completely untested so it would be interesting to know if you try it and it works.

I tried just like you said and don't work. Just open the home page of the browser. However I tried to put the same name of the shortcut but on steam settings by clicking the right button on the mouse and put the shortcut location "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://netflix.com This ON STEAM and it works. Thanks for the help.
