How does one quickly become a level 8
Can't get those summer cards without being a level 8. Are there any cheap games that can help level up quick?

I haven't noticed games leveling me up very quickly or at all. Making badges/collecting cards seems to be the easiest/fastest and relatively cheap. (You don't need to own a game to collect cards from that game)

Alright, thanks.

Yes, buy cards and make badges. Also you can do steam task and unlock community badge, which gives +200xp if 22 tasks are made.

Yeah that's what I'm currently trying to do, thanks.

Why is it only lvl 8 that you can get the cards, why is lvl 8 so special? Can someone please explain it to me? Just wondering...

8 is high enough to require atleast a bit of crafting (money, cards you get from your games are technically money too), thus making it harder to make duplicates and profit through the cards from voting.

if you are trying to vote and get free cards. You kinda waited till the last day, and you will only get like one card.

Buy CS Go cards and craft the badge for that. That should get you some levels quick and the cards are really cheap. Honestly though if you're wanting the summer badge, just buy the cards on the Steam Market. They've taken a huge drop in price over the past few days so it's going to be cheaper and far easier for you to just go straight for them.

Just in case you don't know how, hover over the community link at the top of the page (or near the top of the main client window if you're using that atm), click Market and then enter "summer 2014 card" into the search box.

Aside from that, just save your money for games you actually want to buy and if you get a card from buying games, just sell them on the market to reclaim a little of the money spent on the cards in the first place.

The level 8 requirement is only in place for free cards obtained every 3 community votes and for free cards obtained for crafting badges. It's in place to stop people making alternative accounts to farm free cards and shift them back into their main accounts. There's been problems with sale events in the past which has made doing something like this a requirement.

Alright, thanks guys. I would consider buying the cards but ehhhhh... wanna save my money. I've voted like 18 times lol so I'm trying to reach level 8 fast. Might try doing the CS GO badge real quick since I already bought it a while back for $3.74.

I wish the team stuff didn't requre such a high level. I've never cared about cards or crafting badges, so now I can't participate until I scramble to figure it out.
Badges.

Speaking of which, checking off my discussion task.

The minimum badge level is something steams does for each sale. I "think" it was only 6 badges for the the 2013 Xmas sale last December.
