Steam charges to verify credit card ownership?

I verified my debit card through my bank, and the teller told me the charges would put me at a negative balance? I didn't realize it would cost me money to verify the fact that the card is mine..please tell me that steam will refund those charges.

Yeh its a standard verification. And yes it gets refunded (well it should). Usually the charge on your statement will have some sort of code that you input. That way Steam (or whatever business) knows that you are the authorised owner of that card and its not stolen.

Not all companies do this, usually Amurikahn companies. Here in the EU we have way more security on our debit and credit cards, pin codes for chips, authorisation numbers associated with the card. Code Card verification devices, etc. So we dont really use that way of verifying a card.

Also dont have an overdraft, then you cant get a negative balance :P

For advance verification or for businesses that offer a free trial or subscription, this is the standard procedure to verify them. The charges will be dropped after you verify it and are always under $1.

Does anyone know like how much it charges i only have 0.26 cents on my account and its not working
