Sniper Elite 3 bought elsewhere. Serial key not accepted by Steam
We are two friends who both pre-ordered Sniper Elite 3 from another online store a while back. yesterday the money was withdrawn from our accounts. Today when I wanted to register the key Steam won't accept the key. First I got a message stating that there had been some problems with the purchase but after that i got a message about duplication? I have bought games from another online store before and entered the key without any problems. Anyone know what to do? Both of us haven't been able to purchase any games from Steam since june 17 th maybe this has something to do with that?

What 'store' was this, because it sounds less like a 'store' and more like 'shady cd-key shop that ripped you off'

Oneplay. I have conntacted them and they that they have paid for the codes and because the error lies at Steam there is nothing they can do about it:-(

No it's legit. I have bought games from theme before and registered the serial key at Steam without any problema at all.

Yep its a shady cd-key shop

Again go scream at the shop that sold you the key. They're the ones that screwed up.

Site looks legit to me. ignore Satoru
CD key sites that are not authorized Steam key 3rd party sites are not classified as legit

Why do tyou think it's shady? I bought Wolfenstein from them, registered the key without any problems. A friend of mine had Sniper Elite 3 installed, played it for while and all of a sudden Steam uninstalled the game and stated duplicated key?

Whether or not they "look" legit is irrelevant they are not recognised vendors for Steam and the only way they manage to get the keys is by buying them cheaply from other regions, or buying them in the bundle packs and selling them seperately. Buying a Russian region CD key and using it in EU is obviously not allowed.

Since you didnt buy it from Steam, its not Steams problem. Go contact the people you bought it from.

People have 'registered games' from shady cd-key shops all the time. That doesn't make them legit.

Again refer to the store. THEY are the ones that sold you the duplicate key. Not steam.

Oh ya? Dose Valve provide a safe list of those 3rd party sites that are legit? No?
Why would they? If you buy directly from Steam/Valve they receive a profit unlike if you were to buy it from somewhere like Amazon.

They likely do not get their keys directly from Steam or the Publisher. Their keys can come from all kinds of sources including shady ones.

Someone i know bought a car stero from someone sitting in a pub. The car stereo worked perfectly.... doesn't mean it isn't shady as it goes!

Where does it say "duplicated key"? If you are trying to activate the key again, it won't work because you can only activate it once. If the GAME was removed from your account (not just uninstalled) then there was a problem with the key. It could be that someone else proved ownership of it or that the key was unofficially obtained.

The site OWNERS themselves state: "Unfortunately, we experience a lot of fraud on used codes. If your code is stated as used, we must see proof."

So they KNOW they are selling keys that are based on fraud!!!!!!!

Other reviews: "Pre-ordered Wildstar a day before launch. Received both keys within a few hours. One of the keys were invalid due to "key already in use" that has been reported by others. Still have neither received a new key or reinbursement from oneplay despite talking to their support and supplying them with screenshots as requested. " - "Bought the wildstargame, recived a key in a form of a photo. the quality is so bad that it is impossible to see the letters and numbers even if you zoom in."

You see?
