Why dont I need to type in my PayPal password (take 2)
I'm asking this question again, as somebody has locked replies to the last thread! The blame is being laid at PayPals feet, but when I check my PP account for settings, all I see is, remove PP account from Steam, or when I go into small purchase settings, all I get is
"Checkout settings

You haven't created any settings for making small purchases (less than £4.00 GBP) that don't require postage."
So, how do I password up this now?
As it just happens I've been done by son on Microsoft this very week for £60 (that was my fault giving him trust), but this is the main house hold PC, with Steam running 90% of the time. Also, I bought a game last Friday and had to enter pass, ticked same boxes as usual, none extra. And now, on the very same week I got done on Microsofts lacking in security policy, Steam seems to have dropped their guard. (maybe they can see Microsofts money making strategy, or maybe I'm dumb and can't see something thats staring me in the face)

if you can't remove paypal from your account page try a password change that should clear all payment data.

I seen your other thread but not read a word there.

Steam hasn't really dropped their guard, they've just made it easier for people who make alot of purchases not to have to confirm the payment with paypal all the time. Your account security is your responsibility.

If you go to Paypal and login, click Profile > My Money > My Pre-approved payments you will find a list of companies/persons you've authorised to charge your Paypal account. You can cancel them there should you wish to.

Yeah, I checked those already, the thing is, Steam is ok to take the money out, but not without me typing a password. That is all thats changed, it was already verified in Paypal (like Microsoft *cough*) I'm gonna change my password, that was the next logical step anyway, I just wanted to know if I'd missed a setting.

BTW I dont think it's really that hard to type a password in when making a purchase, when you think about it, someone who buys that many things could type their password in about 1.5 secs, I know I can. Besides, I've not been given any option to do that

it is less secure typing the password every time you do that it can be keylogged.

I use a form filler.

You can remove any stored payment method through your Account Details.
Be sure to let unticked the checkbox for storing your payment method during checkout process.

Is that something thats appeared recently? As I've bought quite a bit, and this is the 1st time its not asked me for password, so must've happened on last purchase. Never noticed any different checkboxes than usual last time. I take it I will have to re log my details after I do that, and hope it goes back to normal

Um, I'll take a look, but a program that stores your passwords? I dunno if thats a good idea, obviously you deem it safe enough, but I'll have to check out how trustworthy it looks

it has a very good encryption , as ever the weapon is as good as the hand that weelds it.

I was aware of internet and account security before I made my first (hotmail) account online.
steam was my second account.

Unfortunately the box is pre-ticked and it's easy to miss. Once you've missed it you can't undo it - you need to create a feedback case and request them to do it. It is designed to take away the pause before someone buys something they may not actually want. It's manipulation. It's very immoral.
