Refund my Mac compatible game that steam won't let me play
I think it's wrong for you to display a mac compatible game after I specifically chose mac osx and purchased the game well within the specs of the game and then receive a wrong platform issue. I can't get the game and now you won't give me a refund. There is no phone number to call and I still don't see where I can actually set up a ticket. You guys need to change some policies or fix your site.

What game are you having issues with?

You can contact Steam Support here. You will need to create a separate Steam Support account in order to submit a ticket.

You should also be aware of this, although it's worth noting that Steam Support has granted refunds on a case-by-case basis:
Steam Refund Policy

As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client. Please review Section 3 of the Steam Subscriber Agreement for more information.

Steam Subscriber Agreement

An exception is made for games purchased during a pre-order period if the request is received prior to the games' release date.

Well, the support site just let me open a ticket. I was already logged in to my separate support login and it wouldn't allow me to before, but this time it did. Maybe it takes a little while after setting up the account? The game is Spore, but I have now opened a ticket. We'll see what they say.

Where on the store page does it say it's compatible with Mac? I'm only seeing the Windows icon and there is no mention of Mac anywhere else that I can see.

It's also not listed in the list of Mac games: http://store.steampowered.com/search/?os=mac&category1=998

Why did you think it was Mac compatible? I don't see it in the Mac section, and its store page only mentions Windows.

You will need to contact suport but it is doubtful that they will help you because the store page does not say iy is for Mac.
If you still want to play it you can use bootcamp or something similar.

The Spore website says mac compatible and I didn't see any compatiblity option on Steam so I assume that if the manufacturer made it that way Steam would offer it that way. I searched Steam for mac osx and found Spore so I bought it. I really don't like putting PC software on a mac (kinda defeats the purpose of buying the mac in the first place).

Now I see where it says Windows compatible (all the way down below where the link to the Spore sight is). Why would it be mac compatible, but not offered by Steam as mac compatible?

Well it is an EA game that added Mac compatibility after EA quit putting their games on Steam and if you want the Mac version it links you to EA's Origin. It's a tough call on whether or not they will help you but good luck.

Does Spore give you a CD key in your library? If so, try redeeming it on Origin, see if that works. You can do that with Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so maybe it works with Spore too. It should be Mac compatible there.

Thanks guys! Thats very helpful. I'm not sure about the CD key yet, but I will look. If I can get it to work then I won't need the refund. My 10 year old spent some birthday money on it so hopefully I can get it working for him. Who Knows, maybe one day he will actually have a PC and be able to use it on Steam, but until then dads always give refunds:)
