Far Cry 3 Error 193 (game will not launch)
Hi everyone,

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse with this question but I've been having problems launching Far Cry 3. I have been through the motions of checking the game cache and even going through the install packages myself. I have checked forums and I have checked with tech support but no one seems to be able to help.
Basically when I start the game it says
"Failed to execute command: farcry3_d3d11.exe (error 193) please make sure this executable file exists"
yes the file is there and I have tried launching the game from the file location. I am lost as to what to do and I know my PC is more than capable of running the game. I have been having this problem for well over three months and I just want to enjoy the game that I have been wanting to play. any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Tried Ubisoft support? I know that answer is probably not what you want to hear but if you've been through everything you can think of then they may be your only answer >.<

Then again if that does not work try contacting ubisoft support like what laptop65 said or steam support

Yes I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have contacted steam support and ubisoft support they both gave me the same solutions that I already tried. I just feel like I'm at a dead end with 30 bucks out and a game that wont launch.

Try the FC3 game hub. Or find a moderator to move this thread into there.

Disable it and try again.

I have tried to start the game with my antivirus disabled and it proceeds to give me the same error.

Have you run Steam as ADMIN and tried?

The game uses UPlay right? It could be a bug with that, but I'm sure you must launch the game with UPlay. If the game patches and such are delivered through Uplay rather than steam (its common for some games not to release patches on steam but on indepedant updaters and launchers, its easier for developers to do it since it takes the verifying process with Valve out of it.)
No, patches still come through Steam if you have the Steam version of a Ubisoft game.

Go to Ubisoft and download latest version of Uplay and install it.

Games that come with Uplay will try to install that if not already on your system, which won't work because it will be a really old version. Best bet is installing latest version from Ubisoft first before trying to install Ubisoft games from Steam or elsewhere.

Should not need to uninstall FC3 game from Steam; just verify the game cache from game properties > local files.

Make sure u have Uplay and Steam setup to Run As Admin.
