Steam ingame overlay glitch

Hey all,

Lately I have been getting VERY annoyed by the steam overlay glitching horribly while trading items [on, for example, TF2]. The steam overlay flashes on and off constantly, I can't hover my mouse over an item to see its properties or the steam overlay disappears straight away again, and 9/10 of my trades end up in failure because simply the steam overlay glitch gives me no chance to click or do actually anything.

Is there any knowledge on how to fix this glitch?

i got the same problem dude :\ i dont know why, and i dont know how to fix.

I think it's currently only for Mac, still haven't found a workaround though. Pretty annoying, especially when you're in the middle of a game and you spend three minutes just trying to keep that window open long enough to tap out "wut u want."

P.S. Man, this issue is older than I thought it was.

well i fixed my problem, changing the energy options on my laptop to high performance, and it worked.

if you got a laptop, you just need to go on energy options and change for high performance.

Yeah my screen constantly flickers quite violently when I get out of Stand-by mode, and a bit often otherwise. it's an issue with the drivers, known issue to be not so friendly to some Win 8.1 devices.

Surprisingly, running a Java game or running Terraria, or putting the laptop on Battery mode (instead of wired) completely removes the flickering.

you can remove steam overlay using task manager
just delete steamoverlay.exe

Yeah that's completely removing the issue. (not talking about the mouse-overlay now tho)

Though, it's temporary. And now I'm trying to find the permanent solution to it.

well i use my laptop always at high performance, and in battery... i dont have anymore glitches.

Unfortunately, the Steam Overlay is still bugged. Kinda wish Valve would take better care of its gamers :(
