You have to play Portal 2 and eventually the cards will drop one by one. You have to keep the game running to get the card drops.

I've played the entire game (except for co-op) and I only have 4 cards, do I need to play co op to get all 8 cards?

You don't get the whole set by playing. You only get a specific number of cards as drops, depending on how many cards are there. You either have to trade out the rest of the cards or purchase them from the market to complete the set.

so how does trading work again? I give the guy my card for his card?

(Sorry for my lack of knowledge, this is the first time I've ever really looked into how the steam community works instead of just playing games and sticking to the forums to answer questions.

Or from another game for a portal card (or you can simply buy the cards on market).

Yes, but you'd have to trade cards from a different game for a Portal 2 card which you don't have. Be sure to check the prices of the cards before trading as some are more expensive than others, so it might even got for 1:2.

oh ok, so I can trade my F1 2013 cards for portal 2 cards right? Since those are the only games that are steam realated that I bought.

Wait, so you still buy the card even though your trading? (again sorry for my lack of knowledge.)

More like people won't trade a card that goes for $0.20 for one that goes for $0.10. In that case, you'd need 2 cards to equal the value of the higher priced one.
