vrserver.exe being flagged by antivirus
Today, my antivirus detected the vrserver.exe file Steam\vr\runtime\bin\ as a virus, along with trz61C4.tmp. Is the software actually malicious or is this a false positive from my antivirus?

I'm using Avast 9 with the latest definitions.

..ive had false positives happen before when i downloaded risk of rain once but i just had this happen avast went off so is it a false positive? kinda like someone from valve to confirm :/
did it agian...keeps doing it every few minutes i just delted the folder not like i use big picture anyway
I think avast broken up their definitions again, haven't really downloaded anything special today. You can submit false positive through the avast virus lab. I recommend using their webpage.
well i delted it anyway not like i have a occulus rift to use with it anyway

Try pluggin in a usb device, anything that runs off of usb, and watch the antivirus flag pop up. vrserver is scanning your hardware every time you do that, it's totally malware.
how did you get it
a friend of mine downloaded steam on 2 seprate pcs and that same file was there each time more then likely a false positive but its not needed to run the steam program just wait till avast updates there definitons and the problem will go away in day or 2 its safe to delte the file

My Avast just picked up on this as well, I also went to check my installed tools and odd enough SteamVR says "ready to play", I don't recall ever requesting the install. Looking at the bin folder it's been time stamped right around when I booted up Stem tonight. Everything in the folder looks like it was modified a couple days ago.

Is Steam pushing this VR app automatically? Regardless I am just going to uninstall it.
i have got the same problem.
guys it's really a false positive . valve last update for VR creat this myhem .this done it so there programe can recognize oculus vr headset through the USB port

wanna check for real . go to tools in steam - steamVR . right click and see update news.there u will find the truth.
same thing today this morning my antivirus flagged it as malware generator
