Are Steam Cards region locked?
Hello, I currently live in Mexico and I would like to buy a Steam Card (for the whole "Summer Sales") but my question is are Steam cards region locked?? My Steam Store currency is set to US dollars so will the Steam card work or will it only be a waste of money?

No region lock for summer cards. I don't believe any trading cards actually have region locks meaning you can actually get cards for games unavailable in your region. Buena suerte!

Usually they only work in the country/region purchased in. If they are not sold in your country they will usually never work no matter where they are from.

So if i were to buy lets say a $20 giftcard, redeem it to my Steam account and tried to buy a game, it would say that my currency doesnt match or something?? I do have my Steam store currency set to US dollars.

It seems like it should but I have not tried it so I can't give you a definitive answer.

Or just contact steam support and wait. That way if you can't use it you can sell it or give it to someone who can. Good Luck either way.

They are not. Previously people had trouble with it because the currency of the gift-code would not match the currency of the account, the code would be redeemed but the money would not appear in the wallet. The user would not be able to use it unless support was contacted for help.

But now this has been fixed and Steam's system will automatically convert whatever currency and amount of the gift-code into the current currency of your current account. Be aware tho that the exchange rates Steam uses to convert currencies into one another are quite different, not extratosferically but significantly, from "real life" values.
