gifting when i alerady own the game??

so i bought battlefield bad company 2 vietnam and installed it yesterday, but today i need to buy it for my friend.. but it says i alerady own the game and i cannot buy it even as a gift, at least not in the shopping cart. is there something i am missing? can i buy it as a gift?

You can't buy it as a gift, because you already own it.

You should /absolutely/ be able to purchase a game as a gift even if you already own it. i get friends games i already own all the time.

The problem, i think, is that you are not selecting that you want to purchase it as a gift right away. Or something.

If you already own the game, there is a big "PLAY" banner on the top, but further down you can still add to the cart and purchase as a gift.

The only things you can't purchase as a gift and buy if you already own the game are the x2, x3, and x4 packs.

Not sure what Dark Ace is confused about.

i think you cant purchase it as a gift because it is a dlc... this is annoying valve fix it

actually this game was never giftable it was only purchaseable to yourself.
there is a way to get it as a gift however i will not get into that.

EDIT: i just see alot of people saying if u already own the game u cant buy it as a gift ofc u can buy it as a gift eventhough u already own it..

dont try to help if you dont know the answer, his problem is special since the game isnt like others, vietnam has never been giftable through the normal way of buying it.

Oh... the problem might also be that "Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam" seem to require you to own "Battlefield Bad Company 2" first, so perhaps it's being tricky allowing you to gift it to someone who doesn't already own "Battlefield Bad Company 2"? Maybe?
