New Steam Community Market feature: Buy Orders!
We've updated the Steam Community Market with a new method of purchasing - Buy Orders. A buy order is an order to purchase a commodity item at or below the specified price. This order stays in place until it is fulfilled or cancelled.
Buy orders can only be used on commodity items, which are items that are all identical to each other (no variations in description or function). To start with, we only have marked Half-Life 2 Trading Cards as commodities (links below). We'll expand that as we work through any issues with the system.
You can have multiple buy orders outstanding - up to 10 times your current wallet balance. If an item gets listed for a lower price than what you have on your buy order, you will receive the lower price. The buy order with the highest price gets priority for purchasing newly listed items. If there are multiple orders with the same high price, the oldest buy order gets fulfilled first. Buy orders can be cancelled at any time, by you or the system - if the item changes, if you no longer have enough funds in your wallet, or if there are any issues during an attempted purchase.
Here are some links to Half-Life 2 Trading Cards on the market if you'd like to try out the feature (Note: all sales are final!). Please post any feedback in the market forums (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/community_market/discussions).

The way they've implemented it can be confusing to newbies...
But, I like the idea of being able to view "the book" now...☺
But now you cannot get to that bid list. they created a double standard of place orders and instantly bought items, sometimes you will get a place order that will happen just as you click on buy. sometimes you wait, its a short interval but newbies dont understand this. in the end it will be ironed out and thats ok.
Atm in a frantic foil card buying frenzy its getting kinda frustrating, going through which items i bought and which i still have a place order on, did i place a order on that one? i dont know i have to go through each item i need to buy in order to make sure im not doubling up on something unnecessary.
And thats just doing it with logged in browser, the client for this ok but you know constantly backing and forwarding on a single page is somewhat frustrating mainly if you have ♥♥♥♥ a internet connection speed that plus sometimes the market place orders - glitches and from your end you cannot buy that item, usually takes a few refreshes or go through browser to get at it. but thats understandable its a new process.
But back to place orders, the market (item market) moves soo quick it puts the global stock exchange to same (in terms of speed, not matching it on volumes and pricing) I do love it, Valve ingeniously put together something that works, puts sony and microsoft consoles markets to shame.
Made a good profit last month, of $35. Had some CS:GO coins that i bought like 7 of for $2.50 each from last year not knowing at all they be worth something later, as of last month are worth more than $5 each. Sold them, made a profit. Bought some games. market predication of this is hard, but doable.
Valve created the marketplace that's a reflection of us consumers and that creation is a monster........of goodness hahaha

Click on the item you want.
Click on the big BUY button and enter how much you want to buy it for.
If there are items for sale at that price (or lower) you'll get your item. If there isn't currently your order will be added until there is an item being sold for that price.
