Do we get XP for buying DLC?

DLC do not count as games for the Game Collector badges.
Unless they are standalone games themselves.

The badge is what gives you the EXP. DLC do not count toward the badge level.

Completing badges gives you EXP. Click on your profile and go to your Badges page to see what badges you can complete to give yourself more EXP.

Since my brother quit last month, and I just took over, the only badges I see I could get is the Mystery Badges.

It's really just making badges. It might be called a "Steam level", but adding games does very little wrt to XP.

I don't know anything about Mystery badges; last year they had some form of mystery card before the summer sale, but I don't remember what these were good for (didn't have one), or whether Mystery badges even existed.
