exactly my point, it only changes to "headset microphone" if i disable all my playback devices and then click change devices, including "headset earphone", it then changes to headset microphone, i then "test microphone" but it still does not work. It seems to me like steam is getting my recording and playback devices mixed up :S
how exactly do "i select" the headset microphone?
I do not have any other soundcard than the USB, and well, the HDMI port of the GFX also shows up, but its not used.
In the picture I linked you can see that the device manager puts the soundcard in 2 places, "Audio inputs and outs" and "Sound, video and game controllers". I think this is what probably is making it difficult for Steam to recognize the mic.
I have circled what I think might be of interest or suspicious.
