Steam Cards for Click? [URGENT POSSIBLE HACK]
So a friend of mine posted a link to a sight that gives you "Steam cards" depending on how many 'clicks' you get to the personal link. I was interested in the idea to get free stuff [what a glutton] and I started sending my personal Link to all my friends on FB, I got a decent amount of 'clicks' but then I wanted to share this with my friends on steam. Upon clicking the link, however, my friend reported that the link was not of an official Steam website.... needless to say I became distraught and began looking for answers. I fear my account is in danger and those of my friends, please if you have any info on this link if it's dangerous, or what have you.

It isn't dangerous if you haven't logged into that website with your Steam login and password or downloaded something there. But you won't get anything from this website.
These 'free Steam stuff' links are inevitably scams desgined to steal your personal info, your account info, to put malware on your machine, or even just farm clicks from you and your friends. Do not ever trust any unofficial site that claims it will give you free Steam wallet codes, money, games, cards, etc.

I'd suggest you run a bunch of virus and malware scanners on your machine to be certain. Did you reveal any personal details in the link? (account login/password, email, name, address, phone number, etc.)

They are scams and potentially used to steal identities. Do a search of the forums and you will see the horror stories from people not getting anything the site promised, tricked into downloading ad/malware, accounts highjacked, credit card info stolen from key loggers, and on and on.

So it's more Phishing than a Virus eh? That's a bit more comforting. But For everyone seeing this just be careful about Steam fake links
If it seems like a remarkable free deal ... they're trying to stealthily get something from you.
It may be info to market to third parties, it may be mouse clicks.
It may be your Steam account info.
It may be your financial information - your bank account, your credit card.

It may be you who is the product. (just like Facebook)

Okay people. There are at least a dozen threads about this particular site "free-steam-cards", and the funny thing is most people use words like "It's very likely a scam.", which still doesn't exclude all hope that it just might be legit.

Let me tell you now. It is UNDENIEABLY A SCAM. What it does is not really harmful though, unless you are a complete noob. It makes you share the uniquely generated link, which is a lot of traffic for them, then AFTER YOU HAVE your 20 or so clicks, it will give you a survey.

In case you didn't know: surveys like this are bad news, so don't even attempt to complete them.

(TESTED WITH FREE PROXYS - THAT'S HOW I KNOW)

Alright. Makes sense. It's been quite a while since that happened and nothing terrible has happened to my computer. So I'll assume you're right. Thank you for the information~

Alot of scams going around targeted at Steam users, please watch out for such suspicions.

Anything related in giving out personal info, Steam info, or asking that do things on 3rd party sites; those are tell-tale signs of phishing scams.

Now there are legit brands/sites that do contests giveaways for game keys. But any person or site promising Steam content (such as items) or Steam Wallet Cash/Codes; those are scams.

Also watch out for people on Steam even, promising to trade you Steam Wallet funds for items, as you can not trade wallet funds outside of using them on Steam Market.
