He's a grown man, show some respect.
That's your personal choice and you're perfectly entitled to it, but in this situation its like you buying yourself a game for console, and then when you're about to play it the game informing you that you need a keyboard and mouse in order to play. I don't play console games, I dont like consoles, STEAM shouldn't be selling a campaign like this for computer play if it can't be played cooperatively without a console remote, and more to the point it SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ADVERTISED AS A CO-OP GAME IF IT CANT BE PLAYED CO-OPERATIVELY!!!
How would you both control characters using a keyboard and mouse, with only one keyboard and mouse available on the PC?

Not that I see, but I never claimed it did. You on the other hand said "it states that the game can be played cooperatively over a LAN connection".
I'm no computer expert, but I think its forgiveable for one to assume that a game that can be played cooperatively can be played cooperatively, and my assumption was that I would be able to do so over a LAN or the open internet.
Nowhere in the game's description does it say that, it says "Multiplayer" and "Local Co-Op", which means it can only be played locally on the same PC, and if you look up the multiplayer mode, it's strictly competitive. Also, Steam is just a storefront, if you don't like the DRM method a publisher uses, take it up with them on the game's forum, Valve doesn't dictate the DRM/features that individual publishers decide to use.
