How can I remove Dota 2 from my profile game list?

My buddy found a way to remove free licenses (games) from your profile. From the Steam program (not web browser), go to the top left and hit 'Steam' ---> 'Settings' ---> 'View Account Details' (Top Right corner) ---> 'View licenses and product key activations' then find the game you want to remove the free license off (Remove button).

He did it for Velvet Sundown which he had some playtime on and it completely removed it from his profile (lowered his # of games, etc.). I had already had Dota 2 local content removed a LONG time ago and just deleted the folder in Steam ---> Steamapps ---> Common folder. I still had 49 games in my account and Dota 2 is there ;(

Only played it for 1.1 hours a long time ago and I hate having it in my list. Why did remove it's free license not work like it did for my friend with Velvet Sundown?
