Items lost in trade??

I tried to trade some csgo skins between this account and my alt. I traded the skins over about 4 days ago and everything was fine. Today I tried to trade the skins back, and when i accepted on this account I got an error that ive seen many times before, closed it and tried to accept again which normally resolves it. I tried to accept again and got an error, tried this two more times. Then when i decided to just wait a few minutes and try again I looked at the trade in my recent offers and saw that it said items no longer available. It says this both on this account and the alt, BUT neither account has the items. These skins have a combined value around 1000+$ so I am understandably annoyed.

Just an update for you guys. My brother got his items back. Earlier, I saw other members saying that they could get back their items by inviting the other side to trade again.

He did try it several days before, but still no luck.

Some background info: He lost his items when he tried to send several trading cards to me as gift. After he confirmed the offer by email, I accept it on my side. Then the server went down and the cards disappeared.

Just now, I tried to send my brother some trading cards as gifts. The previously disappeared items then came back to my brother's inventory once my trade offer arrived at my brother side (he still had not accepted it)

I believe that for the disappeared item to reappear, not only we need to send the original party an trade offer BUT ALSO with the same type of item. (because I tried to send an offer with csgo skins to my brother, the items did not reappear.

Same here, without answer from steam support about 3 week's. My trade was 8:1 and i got only 7 back in inventory, 600$ knife was lost. Now i'm afraid to trade again.
