Steam Hardware Survey

I recently realized that I haven't been asked to participate in the Steam Hardware Survey in what seems like years. I can't seem to find any setting to opt-in to the survey and I never receive any popups like I used to. I'd like to participate if possible. Any idea why I'm not getting the popups?

You can't opt-in by choice, you have to wait until you're asked. They randomly sample the user base at regular intervals to get reasonable (and valid) statistical estimates of the user base. If you could opt-in by choice, you'd risk biasing the results (you could probably hypothesise that users who actively opt-in are more likely to be early adopters, so they'd show e.g. more takeup of Windows 10 and less use of XP than the population at large).

Last time I heard the methodology confirmed it was 1/12th of the user base a month, so each individual user could expect to be sampled once a year, but given the growth in the user base, I guess they can get away with less frequent sampling than that.

Interesting. I guess I was thinking of in the past when those popups were quite prevalent (like once a month if I remember correctly). Guess I'll just wait and see if it ever comes up again.

There are a lot more Steam users now, so they don't have to ask as frequently anymore.

Hey Steam I would Like a steam Hardware survey. As the last time you pulled my info I was on a friends pc. And If I don't get one, I will post my system specs.

They are handed out randomly at the beginning of the month.

Yep I know. If they truely cared about my specs vs what they are not really. I was giving someone a chance to correct an error. But again ty, for your timely response.

An Error in accuracy is an error none the less.
