How To Remove Steam Mobile Authenticator If You Lost Your Recovery Code

This thread became obsolete the moment the Steam -client's standard version got updated from the June 4th's build.

The option on help.steampowered.com wasn't working day before yesterday.

It works now, and you can simply do this from here:

Notice that the R-code isn't necessary anymore.

If you don't have your recovery code (R + 5 digits), and you're stuck at the support recovery page because it asks for both your password AND recovery code to remove the mobile authenticator, then you're in luck (assuming you still have a mobile number attached).

1) Clean uninstall Steam (to disable beta participation)
2) Reinstall Steam
3) Retrieve Lost Account at the login interface
4) Follow the steps and opt for SMS recovery

Congratulations, you have successfully removed your mobile authenticator.

The support guides (along with some people) will just tell you to simply recover via SMS.

If you're here reading this though, chances are you're stuck because the form requires the recovery code (R + 5 digits) that you don't have.

Those seeing this particular screen have beta participation active. What you're seeing is the web interface (help.steampowered.com) wrapped in a Steam browser window. Non-beta participants get a client based recovery process, and that's what you need to use.

The support articles are not updated until the beta features make it into the official build, that's why details on this are not present there.

Not in the beta client, it doesn't.

If you're locked out of your account, you can't change beta participation either, seeing that the launch parameter: " -clearbeta " doesn't work at the moment.

Either reinstall Steam, or use an alt. account to get to the settings in that case.

You need to reinstall if you're locked out and you have beta participation active.

Either that, or install Steam somewhere else. As long as it's the official build.

Steam Beta clients get the new web-based recovery that needs the authenticator recovery code (R + 5 digits).

Remove everything from the folder except
- ssfn<numbersequence> (for the unrestriction's sake),
- SteamApps -folder (for games),
- userdata (if you wanna spare your local screenshots and local savedata which Steam Cloud mostly backs up from that folder.)
Then reinstall with the reinstaller.

It's normal, the currently newest client beta was about 70ish megabytes, from the top of my head.

i will try again, becoz i was try before i cant get sms code, then i try to get on mail code, it say " steam error and please try again later" like that

i dont get sms code, when i try to "send me an email code"
it say "Steam cannot currently process your request. Please try again later"
